Terms and Conditions
To the full extent permitted by law, SharpCV accepts no liability in contract, tort or otherwise (including liability for negligence), for loss or damage of any kind including without limitation, direct or indirect loss or damage, loss of business, revenue or profits, corruption or destruction of data, or any other consequential loss or damage arising out of your use or inability to use the website or in connection with any computer virus or system failure and SharpCV excludes any such liability even if SharpCV is expressly advised of the possibility of such damage or loss.
You will indemnify SharpCV against all costs, losses, expenses or other liabilities incurred by SharpCV arising from the use of our services and the SharpCV.co.uk and SharpCV.com websites.
This contract is written with the sole jurisdiction of the English courts and according to English Law.
These Terms and Conditions apply to all purchases and your use of SharpCV services is subject to the following terms and conditions.
All payments are taken via Telephone or PayPal Invoice in advance of work undertaken on your behalf. As a result, those who use credit/debit cards or cheques for payment please note that your card will be debited/cheque banked prior to us starting work on your service. This is to ensure that your card is valid and that there is sufficient funds/credit in the account to pay SharpCV.
Your first appointment will normally be delivered within 7 working days of payment being received with your CV normally delivered 5-7 working days after your appointment. Subsequent revisions will normally be delivered 2-7 working days after you have detailed the revisions you would like made.
If your cheque/credit/debit card is not honoured by your bank/card issuer then your order will be suspended and the following conditions will apply: An invoice will be dispatched to you requesting payment for the full amount; you must send payment (as detailed on the invoice) in full within 14 days from the date on the invoice or the order will be cancelled. Once payment is received a new appointment will be made to deliver your service.
Where payment is made for the Quick CV Service, this service must be taken up and the Questionnaire returned within 90 days of the order.
The Quick CV will be normally be delivered within 3 working days after receipt of the Questionnaire and any supporting information where the documentation is sent via email and up to 15 working days if documentation is sent via post.
These timeframes may extend during peak times and SharpCV retains the right to extend the timeframe as reasonably required.
All Services can be cancelled with full refund up to 7 working days after purchase without reason by you except where you have agreed to the service starting before the 7 working day cooling off period.
Due to the level of research and preparation which takes place before an appointment, the service will commence from the time you book your appointment and/or send in your materials to us – Not the day of the appointment itself.
If you have placed an order and made an appointment that you subsequently wish to cancel and you have not sent in any materials to us for research before the appointment, the following cancellation rules apply:
Cancellation up to 7 working days following your order and prior to the service being commenced, a full refund will be granted
Cancellation at least 5 working days prior to the service being commenced, 20% will be deducted from the refund.
Cancellation at least 3 working days prior to the service being commenced, 40% will be deduced from the refund.
Cancellation at least 2 working days prior to the service being commenced, 60% will be deducted from the refund.
Cancellation at least 1 working day prior to the service being commenced, 75% will be deduced from the refund.
Cancellation within 1 working day of the service being delivered will result in no refund being given.
Pre-appointment Research Fees
If you have sent in your materials to us before a telephone appointment the above cancellation fees apply subject to a research fee of £50 which will be deducted from the refund amount.
If you have sent in your materials to us before an office appointment a fee of £75 will be deducted from the refund amount to cover the cost of research and booking/cancelling the meeting room.
Quick CV Cancellation
Due to the nature of the materials sent after purchase with the Quick CV Service, this service is deemed to have commenced from the time the materials have been dispatched to you.
All Refunds will be returned to you within 30 days of Cancellation. Where no cancellation fee has been charged an additional 5% deduction for costs incurred with processing/refunding the purchase will be applied.
Missed Telephone Appointments
Where a Telephone appointment is made for a consultation between a SharpCV Consultant and yourself, and you are late and/or miss the appointment set, you will be deemed to have forfeited your right to a consultation, and no refund will be made.
Missed Face to Face Appointments
Where a Face to Face appointment is made in an office location around the UK with a SharpCV Consultant and yourself, and you are late and/or miss the appointment you will be deemed to have forfeited your right to a consultation, and no refund will be made.
Telephone CV Service Moneyback Guarantee
The terms “Interview Moneyback Guarantee” and “Moneyback Guarantee” are used by SharpCV to guarantee that will we refund the cost of your Telephone CV service if the CV that we prepare for you does not secure you an office or telephone interview with a prospective employer or recruitment agent.
As your CV needs time to work we ask that you make at least 30 applications to different prospective employers/recruitment agencies with specific, advertised positions and wait for at least 4 weeks after the closing date of your 20th application before claiming additional support under the terms of the Guarantee.
All Moneyback Guarantee claims must be filed within 3 months of CV purchase.
Step 1: Additional Support
In the first instance we ask that you put your request for additional support in writing enclosing copies of your first 20 rejection letters/emails along with a copy of your original application including CV/Letter sent to the following address: Managing Consultant, SharpCV, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX. (Unfortunately due to the number of documents required for evidence of your applications we cannot accept claims via email). If, after review of your claim we feel you are entitled to extra support we will also refund £2 to cover the cost of posting the documents to us (refund available on request).
Upon receipt of your request for additional support we shall investigate your claim and contact you as soon as possible (up to 10 Working days). We may then ask you for further evidence where required. Where we feel you are eligible for extra support we offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to identify further enhancements to your CV, free CV amendments to boost chances of interview and additional support as determined by the Managing Consultant until you receive your first interview. We will then ask you to make an additional 10 applications subsequently to give the revised CV a chance to work.
Step 2: Refund
Should the extra support we provide you not lead to an interview 4 weeks after the closing date of your tenth application following additional support (30 applications in total), we will ask you put your request for a refund in writing enclosing copies of your final 10 rejection letters/emails along with a copy of your original application including CV/Letter and advert you applied to. If, after review of your claim we feel you are entitled to a full refund of your CV purchase we will action this within 30 days of your written request for a refund.
Telephone CV’s will be refunded in full subject to a 5% administration charge.
Generally we trust that clients will not fraudulently ask for their money back if they have received an interview. However if required SharpCV has the option to make employer follow up checks on your applications to see whether your name had been called for interview. We will always seek explicit written agreement from you before we conduct any application checks on your behalf. If you do not provide written agreement to these checks in addition to the employer contact details we will be unable to process your claim any further.
The Moneyback Guarantee covers clients who are making applications using the exact CV prepared by SharpCV to the job title specified prior to the commencement of the service as these are the roles your CV will have been tailored to. In order to qualify for extra support and a refund you must show that you fulfill each of the minimal/essential requirements for the roles you have applied for.
We prepare CV’s in a specific house style that we know works. If you change the CV the Consultant has prepared or insist the Consultant changes the house style (including changing the font, layout or content of the CV) for your CV, then you cannot claim extra support or a refund under the Moneyback guarantee as you will have deviated from our recommended style.
The Moneyback Guarantee does not cover the following: International CV’s/Resume’s, those seeking Legal/Solicitor Training Contracts, those who require a visa to work in the UK, those who have had a recent career break of 1 year or more, those who have not been in paid employment for 1 year or more.
Only one Guarantee can be in place per client. Where a discount Second CV is purchased the Guarantee applies to positions applied to with both CVs. The Guarantee does not apply to speculative applications, where no vacancy is advertised by an employer.
The Guarantee does not apply to the Quick CV Service, Office CV Service, Cover Letters or Personal Statements and does not apply when a CV is sent in to accompany an Application Form that SharpCV did not help prepare.
Amendments to your CV/Application Form Statement/Cover Letter
If you would like us to amend your CV or Application Form Statement you will be allowed a free revision of up to 10 lines of your CV or Statement in one session as requested by you. If you would like us to amend your Cover Letter, you will be allowed a free revision of up to 5 lines of your Letter in one session as requested by you. Any further amendments to either your CV, Statement or Letter will be charged pro rata at a standard rate of £95 per hour subject to a £25 minimum charge.
All initial documents and requests for subsequent changes need to be received by SharpCV during working hours for the Express Delivery Service timeframe to commence. All documents/requests for changes received outside of working hours will be processed the next working day at which point the Express Delivery Service timeframe will commence.
Should you order an Express Delivery Service and your goods not be dispatched within 24 or 48 working hours of consultation/receipt of all documents we will refund you 100% of the Express Delivery portion of your Service and dispatch your documents to you as soon as possible within normal delivery times (up to 7 working days).
Should you decline this offer we will refund the entire cost of the Service (subject to a 5% administration charge) and discharge our commitments to you. By refunding the cost of the Service you will forfeit the right to receive your goods and will not receive your documents or any other items paid for which have been refunded.
The Express Delivery Timeframe is 24 or 48hrs for delivery of the draft version of your document. As a draft it will be virtually complete subject to proof-reading, requests for extra information from you and any minor amendments you may wish to make.
All amendments to documents delivered via the Express Delivery Service need to be received from you within 24/48hrs of the documents being sent by SharpCV to ensure delivery of final documents within a new 24/48hr timeframe. Any requests for amendments received outside of the 24/48hr timeframe may result in the documents being returned outside of the Express Delivery timeframe without SharpCV incurring any liability for a refund.
If you wish to skip the draft stage and have your documents delivered in a final, proof-read version within the initial 24/48hr Timeframe you must make this wish explicit at time of order and be aware that this will waive your rights to any future amendments of the documents.
Working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday not including public holidays.
Our CV Storage facility is valid for 12 months from the point of purchase during which time you can request to have your CV retrieved by us and emailed to you up to three times. Any additional requests will be subject to a £5 charge.
Whilst we will endeavour to email your CV to you on the same day you requested, we may take up to 48hrs to email your CV to you during working hours (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm).
All requests for CV retrieval are processed during working hours. Any request made outside of these hours will be attended to the following working day.
Any requests not attended to within the 48hr timeframe will receive an extra month of free storage for every day delayed or the option of a pro-rata refund. Once either of these options is taken up SharpCV has no further liability for the late retrieval of a CV.
We accept no liability for loss arising from your use of our services or website. You agree to indemnify us and keep us indemnified against all cost, expenses, losses, liabilities or proceedings arising from use or misuse by you of our services/website.
Your CV is a subjective and creative instrument. SharpCV will prepare you a Professional CV with a clear and concise layout, based on the information submitted by you. By purchasing a CV Preparation from SharpCV, you are giving us creative freedom to prepare your CV as we see fit. As a result, once we have fulfilled our obligations under the Free Amendments and/or Moneyback Guarantee service SharpCV can take no responsibility for your further dislike or unhappiness at the outcome of your CV Preparation Service.
SharpCV prepare CV’s, Model Statements and Cover Letters using your experience to provide you with a “model” example of how your experience can be presented to an employer. Where making specific applications via application forms and/or cover letters we do advise that you use the Personal Statement or Cover Letter we prepare for you only as a guideline to help you customise your application more effectively.
All advice offered by SharpCV consultants and on our websites is taken at your own discretion. Use of SharpCV services and website does not guarantee you career success or a new job offer. We accept no responsibility if you should suffer loss or damage as a result of taking our advice.
Information submitted to SharpCV by you
All CVs and other services produced and delivered by SharpCV are produced from information supplied by you. You are solely responsible for any information submitted by you to this site/our consultants. SharpCV will not be held liable for any misrepresentation resulting from false or dishonest information being supplied.
We will use information supplied by you (including, without limitation, sensitive personal data) to aid the process of providing you with career-related services.
We sometimes use third party freelance consultants to help us deliver these services. SharpCV processes and stores information (including sensitive personal data) and passes this information to our consultants, in order to help deliver our services. All third parties will work in agreement with SharpCV data protection policies.
SharpCV will not sell your information to third parties.
We retain data submitted by you and prepared by us including CV and Career report data for a maximum period of 12 months before deletion. We retain this data to assist with the provision of services.
You have the right to request a copy of all data retained by SharpCV and can request any data held on you to be deleted at any time.
Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions
By ordering a service from SharpCV/visiting our website, you are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
